Copley is one of the nine townships in Summit County, Ohio. The population was 13,641 during the 2000 census. Copley is east of Akron
and is home to several strip malls, chemical plants, and agricultural businesses like farms and subdivisions. Copley shares a school system with Fairlawn which is a city northeast of Copley. Originally an rural, agricultural township, Copley has increasingly become more suburban over the years. The township of Copley actually was originally called Greenfield, after Garner Green. Green, who owned a large portion of the township, later changed the name to Copley after the maiden name of his wife and is the only Copley Township statewide.
